Activity Based Learning

Pupils at Harmony Primary School will experience active learning through our Activity-Based curriculum, interacting with information in a fun and meaningful way.

Activity Based Learning (ABL) is delivered through teaching skills and knowledge through creative tasks and activities. These activities differ within each year group and are usually linked in with the class topic. Such activities are cross-curricular and can involve creating projects, independent learning tasks or group activities. Learning through play is another way that our Activity-Based curriculum is delivered. There is no better way to learn when you are having lots of fun!

We believe that it is a great way for our children to develop their creative thinking skills, learn how to solve problems and think for themselves - something that we need to know how to do in the real world. We appreciate that this learning style can improve our children's teamwork skills and help everyone feel included.

ABL can be: puzzles, games, role play, outdoor learning, story telling, drama, using real life objects and scenarios, watching a subject-related video, using the iPad for research, designing a safari truck and much more. As teachers, we love to ensure that activities are fun and engaging for our children. Have a look at our current topics below:
