Our Blog

Welcome to our class blog!

The nursery children have had a very busy first half-term, as we settled in to our new class and met our new teachers and friends. We are all getting to know each other and our setting and have been exploring our classroom, our outside play area and our school forest.

In class, we have been busy in some of our favourite areas, particularly the block area, where we have been very imaginative, making lots of different buildings including a bus where we all joined in with signing wheels on the bus. Our home area is also very popular and we have some lovely caring play going on with the children making dinner for each other and looking after our dolls.

In our outdoor play area, we have been having a great time exploring our newly opened muddy area. We need to wear our puddle-suits here because it can be very messy! We have enjoyed lots of opportunities for developing our strong bodies by climbing the big hill, digging in our mud pit and planting some bulbs and plants. We can’t wait to see these things grow! We have also been exploring den building, with the children using bricks, crates, tarpaulins and pegs to make some great buildings! As ever, our bike track, climbing and house have all been popular, and it is wonderful to see the children so engaged.

Our trips to the forest have already been a highlight for us. We have picked blackberries too turn in to paint, we have explored and we have had some fun interactive stories. We recently went on our very own bear hunt! We read the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and then followed a path through the forest, just like the one in the story including the grass, a river and even a cave with bear hiding inside! Then it was quickly back through the path and our story area. We had so much fun but we’re not going on a bear hunt again!
