Families and Community
Harmony Primary School has been at the heart of the community since 1998
Following the amalgamation of Fernhill Primary and Glencairn Primary, Harmony Primary School was formed. Since then the school has built its identity around the tight-knit community of Glencairn.
The school maintains excellent communication with parents through Seesaw and the school Facebook group. We have an open-door policy at Harmony and if parents have a concern, they are encouraged to make an appointment to talk with the Principal, Vice-Principal or their child's class teacher. Parent/Teacher interviews, school-based courses and information nights are also held throughout the school year.
Parents' Group
At Harmony we have an excellent Parents Group which forms an important link between home and school. The group organises many popular fundraising events for the children and the community throughout the year. This fundraising makes a real difference to every child's experience in school. All parents are most welcome to join in and help shape the school community.
Friends of the Forest
Our school has a fabulous woodland area on site and the children regularly use the area for Forest School activities. We encourage any parents, family members or people in the community to join our meetings to help plan for resources and nurture our lovely forest area.
Family Support Hub
We know that working closely with families enables us to create positive relationships. At Harmony we offer support and signpost opportunities that are right for individuals. By offering the right support to families the children can go on to enjoy lives of choice and opportunity.
We are lucky to have a Family Support Hub facility at Harmony, led by Julie McCullough. This facility affords a space for families to receive support and advice. Julie works closely with parents and families. Relationships and connections have been formed with many support groups and charities as well as the Glencairn Residents group. We have many information events led by charities throughout the school year for parents.
Harmony Primary is a referral agency for the North Belfast Foodbank. If you need this service speak to Julie McCullough in the Family Support Hub.
